David Catherwood Memorial Sportive 2025

In July 2016, David Catherwood, a highly valued member of the Cycle4Christ (C4C) Cycling Club, was tragically killed in a cycling accident.  Each year, in his memory, C4C organise the “David Catherwood Memorial Sportive” and raise funds for the ‘Young Lives vs Cancer’ charity.

This year the sportive will be held on Saturday, 7th June 2025

There are two routes available – 61 miles (one mile for each year of David’s life) and a shorter 34 mile route.

Both routes begin at Movilla Abbey Church, Newtownards and bring you on a picturesque journey around the Ards Peninsula.

£25 – online pre-registration (£20 Early Bird rate until 31st March)

Important Event Information……

Start/End point: Movilla Abbey Church, 63 Movilla Road, Newtownards BT23 8EZ

Sign on: opens at 8am and closes at 9am at the starting point at Movilla Abbey Church.

Start: A staggered start beginning at 9am

Age: Entrants must be aged 18 or over to register for this event – anyone wishing to take part who is under 18 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT

Refreshments: Food will be provided at the end of the cycle at Movilla Abbey Church, with a water stop in Portaferry

Fundraising: Proceeds from the event go to ‘Young Lives vs Cancer’ and participants are also encouraged to fundraise for this worthwhile cause.
